Raising Kaori - Season 2 Episode 01 - Mami, ghost! :|

Hiiii

Sorry for the long hiatus.
Sho-o'on-da Rhimes was too occupied with some stuff, but hopefully we are back regularly! haha. For me especially, because I want Kaori to read the highlights of her years before she develops memori yang nya dapat recall kelak.

Anyways, this happened few weeks back, when we were on the way to Dot Waffles cafe, to meet with Aunty Jenn, and the traffic was bad on the way to The Spring. It was almost Maghrib and the evening itself was quite cloudy. During the traffic jam, Kaori talked about this:

Kaori: Mami, ghost!
Me: Ne.. ne ada ghost. [Where, there's no ghost]
Kaori: There, ghost *Pointing to the car in front of us*

mami dah mula sik nyaman nyawa. hari pun dah nak megrib so...

I decided to investigate.

Me: macam ne rupa nya? what color is it? [how does it look like? what color is it?]
Kaori: white.. like this (both arms out, typical way ghost act dalam cartoon ya eh)

I was like.. mm white, both arms out. Macam imagine casper ada juak.
So dalam cuak cuak ya, iols dengan gigihnya took my phone out, tried to snap a picture of the car in front of us. Tapi sipi2 jak, neves bah hahhaha
And then I asked her again.

Me: Maseh kah ghost ya? [is the ghost still there?]Kaori: There mami, cant u see?

Biar benar anak ku tok. So I got an idea, I showed her the picture. Waima neves, i asked her.

Me: *showed her the pic* Where is it? point.
Kaori: there ghost... (pointing)
Me: *gasp*

Let me show to you guys the picture, probably you'll see it too.. it is not that far from the driver.

Nampak sik? sik jauh dari driver ya?

Nampak sik??

NANG NYUROH URG BELIANG ATI! *perey*
Happy Halloween!

Raising Kaori : Season 1 Episode 07 - The Ostrich

Have you seen the ostrich chasing cyclist on the Youtube?
Maybe you have seen it on your Facebook feed.

Or you can watch it here:

Anyway, daddy showed the video to Kaori, saying
'Look, that's a big bird, big bird running'.

Later that night, around 3.30 am we heard a cry:
' aaaa mummy!! Big bird! Big bird!'
Woke up from my deep sleep, saw Kaori with her eyes shut.
I hugged Kaori, and said 'it's okay, mummy's here'

And then she cried some more ' aaa mummy big bird birg bird!'
I continued hugging her and she kinda nestled on my chest. Must be a scary dream.
I tried to imagine, probably it looked like this:

Raising Kaori : Season 1 Episode 06 - In the train

Kaori was in a good mood yesterday. We were on our way to the airport, and she sang all the way from the hotel, in the train, while walking... and calling out on everything she saw.. 'aeopwane red.. twuck teeamm' and so on.

While on the train, she sang her own song (I couldn't identify the tunes or the lyrics) and suddenly she called out 'Daddy, Mummy and Kaowi!'. We looked out the window, no billboards or posters of a family, or maybe we missed it because of the fast train. After a while, she called out again 'Daddy, Mummy and Kaowi!'. I looked out again, prolly the same billboard out there.. But nope, no billboards, only buildings. I was interested to see that family billboard she identified as us.( Nok ne yang kedak mummy tek.. cantek sik..) One more time, she called out.. but we were passing by a tunnel, so obviously no billboard because it was dark.

'Daddy, Mummy and Kaowi!'

And then I saw that 'billboard'.. Ooooo..paduhal..

Raising Kaori : Season 1 Episode 05 - ♪♫♪ I Thought You're Hurt ♫♪

Two nights ago, Kaori's Daddy complained about suddenly having some sort of acid-reflux-ish and heartburn-ish feeling especially during the nighttime. So I promised that I was gonna give him a massage him that night.  I was using a tennis ball, which is a very effective tool for pressing the acupressure points - well I love learning about acupressure, so besides testing on myself, of course Kaori's Daddy is  my number 1 acupressure customer.

So that night, while Kaori was still playing on her own, I started pressing the acupressure points for heartburn on Kaori's Daddy's back. As a self-claimed untrained-but-I-think-I-am-quite-good-at-this acupressure therapist, of course I nailed the points and Daddy was ouching all the way, and burping out the winds. urrk, aarkk, grrp. After 5 mins or so, we realized there were no more sounds of toys rattling, so I turned back to see Kaori with her red eyes, on the verge of crying, or maybe already cried, but with silent, very controlled sobs.

Aww she must have thought that I was purposely hurting her Daddy!

'Awww come to Daddy' - Daddy said. She ran and hugged her Daddy (of course I thought that was funny so I took this)

 consoled by Daddy, sobbing uncontrollably

So we have to tell her that it was nothing, no one was in pain, no one was causing pain intentionally hahaha, so  she looked like she understood --- she looked relieved.. and started smiling..

Tedah anak mummy hahhaha

And then she got some inspiration composing I Thought You're Hurt for her Daddy

Well overall I think that was a good incident, because whenever she won't listen to me, i'll just say
'Mummy tekan bdn daddy lak..'

Raising Kaori : Season 1 Episode 04 - Chantek!

For Kaori, there is no difference if you're a man or a woman, if you're a boy or a girl, if she likes what you put on, for example, when I put on an abaya -- the abaya will fall gracefully from top to bottom, she will watch and say - 'Waaaw, mummy chantek' with a very impressed face.

I am not sure if the chantek she meant was actually the dress only, or me with the dress, which means I am not chantek wearing other clothes (mok juak). So previously we thought she understood the concept of chantek. Until one week, when she was so clingy with Daddy, she insisted to have her own version of Daddy King Chantek. By that time, we know that chantek means that you have anything unusual on you, but looking fancy to her. I took a picture once on a night she insisted to decorate her minimalist version of Daddy King Chantek:

The simplest Daddy King Chantek version. Little Batik Kebaya on top of the head, Johnson&Johnson's sticker at the center of forehead, and a no-handle glasses.
There were times when I entered the room with my husband typing on his laptop wearing a tudung with other elaborate toys on his head and shoulders.

So the other day on the flight to KL (her first flight after she speaks quite well and reacts towards her environment) we sat in the front half section on the plane, and was very near to the cabin crew demonstrating the safety procedures. Kaori watched the steward doing his thing, looking very impressed, and when the steward put on the life jacket --- suddenly there was a loud voice saying..

'Waaaaw, Abang chantek!'

Raising Kaori : Season 1 Episode 3 - Big Fat Bird

Kaori likes the Wiggle song by Jason Derulo. It all started accidentally actually.. when she started doing this out of nowhere, but at that time she would come to me doing this action:

So just for fun, I uploaded that video in my instagram, with a Wiggle intro as a background [wiggle wiggle wiggle]. When we showed her the video like many many times, she thought  she was wigglin' haha..so everytime the song came up on the radio, she would do that wiggle hands. Here she is again..

So last week, she requested in the car, 'Mummy, wiggle' so okay, I put on the song. And the lyrics before the wiggle wiggle wiggle  part are these lines:

Hey, yo, Jason
Say somethin' to her
Holla at her
[Laughs]
I got one question
How do you fit all that... in them jeans?
[Laughs]

You know what to do with that big fat butt

During these part she was like 'Ready mummy? Ready?' -- pre-wiggle hand position

To my surprise she sang the very last line, and I was about to regret being a bad mom for exposing my 2 year old these kind of songs going "oh man oh man" when.....

"you na wachudu wee a big fat bird!"

-----------------------------------------------

Since then all butts in that song became birds.
Sorry Derulo. now your song just become kid friendly.
Told you Kaori has a talent as a lyric writer. [refer episode 2]

Raising Kaori : Season 1, Episode 2 - Onion, onion

Being a pie baker's child, Kaori observes her Daddy a lot. What daddy bought from the grocery store, what daddy peeled, what daddy soaked, how daddy kneaded the dough. When she started to talk, she begins to say the words she learned from videos or from what we asked her randomly. Like picking up a potato and say : "Kaori what's this?" just to test how fast can she recall the random names.

As she was sent to nursery during the weekdays, when we have weekend orders Kaori would usually hang around the dough table, and try to disturb Daddy. Daddy will give her a tiny dough and an extra rolling pin so she could roll the dough on her own. She likes sprinkling the flour before rolling, though. At first she starts by sprinkling then she would just dump the flour all over the place.

On one hot weekend afternoon, Kaori was playing alone, sounded like she was singing. As we came closer we heard a familiar tune, but very unfamiliar lyric..... I managed to record her voice, so here goes...

You sure got a talent as a lyric writer there babe.
Sometimes she got creative too, like using Pony, her teacher's name and so on. :D

Raising Kaori : Season 1, Episode 1 - Kaori Aisyah binti Khasmady

When kaori was little, she expressed a lot using her face and actions. During that time it was easier to capture her using images, and make fake dialogues, well i just thought it was fun, because she made a lot of funny faces back then. Now that she started to speak, and sometimes like all the other kids, she says the darndest things, i think this year is going to be interesting to see her grow, so i would like to capture her day to day life in writing to be kept as my memories, and for her to read when she's all grown up later. She is 2 years 5 months now, she is crazy about dinosaurs, aeroplanes and excavators (calls them giant twuck team) and is an avid fangirl of M&Ms. And yes, of course she is friends with Elsa too.

This blog series is all about me as a mommy trying to raise my curious little girl. Sometimes we will feature our beloved macho man, Daddy. She is 110% daddy's girl, calls herself tea ghost, cheese ghost and beach ghost. She has a lot of toys but rarely plays with them. Does not like brushing her teeth, will fakely shakes her arm so she looks like she's brushing... in the end ill have to force brush those cute little pearls.

And me, well.. im the typical asian mom, the bad cop, the one who should be in a choir group because i have developed so many vocal levels throughout these 2 years. I let Kaori fell (on safe surfaces) so she'll learn about dangers of running too fast, or not too cry on little things, and because of this practice I actually know when she's really hurt physically. Tough love, but that's how mummy loves you bebe. You know mummy & daddy are cray cray about you.

Well i think this is enough for now before im getting mushy, I'll just continue in the next episodes.

Bye!
